The other day, we went over the impressive tweet from Lisa Blossom that she believes that Joe Biden is a rapist and continues to lie about raping a former staffer, but she still will endorse him for President.
Now Linda Hirshman in the New York City Times has run an opinion piece entitled” I Believe Tara Reade. I’m Voting for Joe Biden Anyhow.”
It is a cooling example of how feminist authors are retaining their “females must be believed” position from Kavanaugh and just stating that they will support someone they think to be a rapist.
” Let’s be clear: I think Tara Reade. I believed Anita Hill, too,” Hirshman added.
” Democratic primary citizens knew all about Mr. Biden’s membership in that boys’ club when there was still time to select somebody else. Alas.”
That “Alas” resulted in the unexpected conclusion:
” I’ll take one for the group. I think Ms. Reade, and I’ll vote for Mr. Biden this fall.”
Similar To Flower, it is noteworthy that the election still has actually not happened, however Flower and Hirshman are still lining up behind somebody who they believe is a rapist and someone who is continuing to lie to the general public about his raping a female staff member.
That ethical flexibility and relativism allows for highly hassle-free positions but little principle.
It is unclear how many women they would need to believe Biden raped to change that calculus. However, because there is no require a complete examination of all of the Biden papers (including those at the University of Delaware) for any allegations of sexual misbehavior by anybody, there is little risk of dealing with that choice.
